It is not every man who has the ability to defend himself on his own. He cannot bring out the points in his own favour, or the weaknesses in the other side. He may be tongue tied or nervous, confused or wanting in intelligence. If justice is to be done he ought to have the help of someone to speak for him. And who better than a lawyer?

An employer and an employee find themselves unhappy with their employment situation. A borrower cannot repay a lender. Years of family disagreements build up before the blowup. From minor grievance to all-out war, conflict happens.
What happens next is up to those in conflict. Some walk away. Some pretend the problem never happened. Some resolve it quickly, perhaps even amiably. Sometimes we do this ourselves. Other times we need a little bit of help.
